Well, what a night. First I used my 8" Cassegrain, which is always difficult for me - I am convinced my mount cannot handle the weight of this scope, even though technically it is supposed to. This means I have so many bad subs because the stars are elongated or worse, no matter how I balance it, or what I do. It is so frustrating because it is ideal for these small objects. Anyway, I took 500, 30s subs, of this object, and kept 105 of them - not that a single one of them had round stars, they were just the best of a bad bunch. I have tried to improve them using some software, but not very successfully. Some nights I get better results, but not this time. Second, the camera overheated and so hot was it, you could feel the heat on the spacers etc, it had dissipated up into them too! This is not the first time I have had this happen with a 294MC - so the shop have kindly had it back. We will see...

I almost didn't post this because of all the issues, but I thought, 'whatever'. Anyway, I have done what I can with this image, and the imaging time was 52.5 minutes. Thanks everyone for your interesrt...

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
